Settling In

November 23, 2004 By Carol Michel 1 Comment

I've nearly completed the clean up in the garden. I've mowed the lawn at a lower setting (twice) hoping that soon it will stop growing. I think I'll need to mow one more time before winter starts. I also need to cut back perennials, but that's a task that if I don't get it done, it won't be the end of the garden. … [Read more...] about Settling In

Catching up!

November 16, 2004 By Carol Michel Leave a Comment

This is a big ol' catch up post since I only got two days "blogged" when I restarted this web site and then I took off six weeks or so from blogging.I've just about finished the major fall clean up in the garden and yard. "Just about" means it could snow or get real bad and I wouldn't be in a big panic. I've got a few garden ornaments to put away and a lot of perennials to trim back. But if I don't get the perennials trimmed back it won't be a problem, I'll just have more clean up to do in the … [Read more...] about Catching up!

Fall

September 29, 2004 By Carol Michel Leave a Comment

It was definitely colder this morning, but by lunch time the day was picture perfect with clear blue skies and a perfect temperature. Sometime in the afternoon, while I was working in the basement of the office, heavy clouds rolled in and the temperature dropped. I don't think it will rain, however.I need to get out to the vegetable garden and start harvesting the last of the vegetables before we get a frost or freeze. The final harvest will include peppers and tomatoes for sure. Once we get … [Read more...] about Fall

Work Day Not a Garden Day

September 28, 2004 By Carol Michel Leave a Comment

Well, since this is a work day and I unfortunately don't "work" in the garden, there isn't too much to report from the garden. Another beautiful, clear fall day. We could use some rain! The next chance appears to be at the end of the week, and then it is a slim chance, unless something changes.I do like to start the day by watching A Gardener's Journal (or is it Diary) with Eric Glasner which is on when I am generally eating breakfast and reading the paper. It starts the day out with that … [Read more...] about Work Day Not a Garden Day

Catch Up, Restart

September 27, 2004 By Carol Michel 1 Comment

I've just resurrected this blog. Based on when I last posted, it seems I have a lot of catch up to do to provide information. Let's just fast forward. Spring came, then summer, then fall, then winter, then spring, then summer. Now summer is over. We had a good summer, rain when we needed it and no days over 90 degrees. But, the last few weeks have been dry and the grass has gone dormant. The perennials are drying up, too. It would be a very dusty job to try to attempt any garden clean up now. … [Read more...] about Catch Up, Restart
