Does it bother you that the metal garden ornament is crooked?
Or did you only see the three flowers: St. John’s wort, coneflowers, and a hydrangea, and just ignored that metal thing, whatever it is?
Okay fine, I’ll straighten up that garden ornament. But just because I know it bothers some people to see it all crooked liked that.
Is that better?
Good, but it’s only an illusion.
In the real world, the garden ornament is still crooked. I just straightened the picture a bit.
Now if you are wondering why I even have that garden ornament there in that garden, here’s the scoop. Originally I thought it would be great for a clematis to climb up. But the clematis had other ideas.
It decided to use the nearby plants for its support, ignoring the metal thing entierely.
Some of you may ask, “Then why not remove that garden ornament?”
Done.
But also an illusion.
I did that in about 15 seconds with photo editing software. Not too bad. You can sort of make out its shadow in places but if you didn’t know the metal garden ornament was once there, you’d be hard-pressed to see where it was.
“Hey Carol, can you add a flowering vine to the metal thing?” Yes, I think I can.
How does that look? Of course, I have no idea what that flower is and I only spent about 60 seconds adding it.
So remember that when you look at pictures on the internet. So many have been straightened, erased, added to and otherwise made to look “just so.” And you don’t need fancy software to do it.
I have one more thing to say about that picture.
None of those flowers in the picture made the cut for my Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day post which will magically appear on the 15th at midnight. Just as it has for all these years, except that one time when I forgot. Oops.
Anyway, about those flowers not making the cut. There was no particular reason other than it is hard to include everything blooming in the middle of summer in one blog post and that’s okay. A little bloom day post is better than no bloom day post.
Join us if you can! Tomorrow!
And bring your pollinators, if they’ll pose for you. (Real bee on a real flower, no photo touch up or editing involved.)
Because if I was going to add bees… I would add several!
Real flower with real bee removed and fake bees added!
Good day!
