Welcome to Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day for February 2026.
Here in my USDA Hardiness Zone 6a garden in central Indiana, we’ve been enjoying warmer temperatures this past week, melting a bunch of the snow that was still hanging around from late January.
Late on Friday, I walked around the back lawn half-heartedly looking for the first crocuses, thinking that where it was snow-covered a few days ago, surely there can’t be crocuses already.
But I was surely wrong!
I found several crocuses starting to bloom, including this little patch of them.
Elsewhere in the garden, snowdrops are making a recovery from the big snowstorm a few weeks ago and slowly starting to bloom as well.

And that’s about it for what’s blooming in my garden in mid-February.
As mentioned in January’s bloom day post, I’m ending this meme after this year, so for my own ease of access, I’m going to add links here for past February months.
2007 – The garden was completely snow-covered for the very first bloom day post!
2008 – I had some crocuses in bloom, and indoors, there were hyacinths.
2009 – Wow, I went wild with hyacinths indoors, but there was just one snowdrop outside.
2010 – Another snow-covered year. Really had to look to find blooms inside, too.
2011 – No snow, but not much blooming outdoors, unless you think a little violet is exciting!
2012 – There were some blooms, mostly crocuses, but they were covered with snow!
2013 – A few crocuses, no snow, sort of like 2026?
2014 – Also completely snow-covered!
2015 – I featured a witch hazel trying to bloom, a snowdrop, and some houseplants blooming inside.
2016 – I had crocuses blooming a week before bloom day, but there was snow on the actual day. Indoor blooms were featured.
2017 – Another year with quite a few blooms, including those crocuses.
2018 – Looks about like this year, with just a few blooms showing up mid-month.
2019 – A few blooms outside, kind of like today, plus Lily of the Valley indoors!
2020 – We got some snow, but I could still see snowdrops, and there were a few crocuses.
2021 – Once again, there was snow on the ground, so I mostly featured indoor blooms.
2022 – Bit of snow on the ground, so mostly indoor blooms, again, including Lily of the Valley!
2023 – Probably one of the best showings for a February bloom day post. Almost looked like the end of the month instead of mid-month.
2024 – Looks like the crocus lawn was in full bloom for bloom day!
2025 – Another year when the crocus lawn was much further along than it is this year.
My sense in looking at all those posts is that February can vary as winter slowly winds down. We could have snow, or just a few crocuses, or a bunch of crocuses in mid-February, but we are definitely on our way to spring.
Now, one last bloom here this year, indoors.

I have a moth orchid reblooming. I should also show an amaryllis still blooming and note that I bought hyacinths bulbs a few weeks ago, but they were spent a few days ago, so I dumped them outside by the back door, where they are waiting for me to take them to the compost pile. (If you subscribe to my weekly newsletter, you already know about them, anyway!)
Now my record for 20 years of February bloom day posts is complete! It’s your turn now!
Oh wait, I almost forgot. I’m overwintering pelargoniums in the garage, and many of them are blooming.

Now I’m done, and it’s your turn.
What’s blooming in your garden today? I’d love to have you join me for Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day and share what you have blooming in or out of your garden today, around the 15th of the month.
It’s easy to participate. Post on. your blog, Substack, Instagram, or wherever you share online, about what’s blooming now in your garden. Then come back here and leave a comment to tell us what you have with a link back to you. (The Mr. Linky widget hasn’t been working too well these past few times, and I’ve not taken the time to sort that out, so we’ll skip it for the time being.)
And always remember the quote that inspired this meme:
“We can have flowers nearly every month of the year.” – Elizabeth Lawrence
With a shared love of gardening,
Carol

Wow ! Congratulations for running link up party related to Gardening for years and helping connecting Gardening enthusiasts from around the world. Here’s my link to what’s blooming in my Garden in February. https://jaipurgardening.blogspot.com/2026/02/spring-is-knocking.html.
And thank you for participating for so many years!
Wow! I cannot believe you have crocus blooming already! We are buried under a blanket of snow here in the northeast, zone 7b, and even though it has finally begun to melt, I still cannot see my Hellebores, which should be blooming right now! Thank you for sharing some hopes of spring! Here is my Bloom Day post for February: https://landscapedesignbylee.blogspot.com/2026/02/garden-bloggers-bloom-day-foliage.html
Yes, hope for spring! I was kind of surprised how quickly those crocuses came up and bloomed after the snow melted. Thanks for joining in!
Ah, the first crocus is always a good sign that spring can’t be far away! We’ve had a real winter this year all right, but by now I’m so tired of it, I can’t wait for spring. To see what little is blooming in my garden both indoors and out check out https://mazastudio.blogspot.com/2026/02/february-2026-bloom-day.html
Yes, we had more snow this year than past years! Ready for spring!
Congratulations on keeping GBBD running all those years, Carol! February here is an entirely different story with spring already in high gear: https://krispgarden.blogspot.com/2026/02/bloom-day-february-2026-early-edition.html
Kris, Thanks for joining in for many of those years! Yes, your climate is soooo different!
Once again, thank you for maintaining this meme for all those years. I think I’ve participated each month since May or June of 2011, when I first found out about it? (I should look). The fact that you have crocus starting to bloom has cheered me up. The warm-up (such as it is) has arrived at my New York State home, but it’s the time of year where I feel that winter will never end. Here’s my post https://ramblinwitham.blogspot.com/2026/02/garden-bloggers-bloom-day-february-2026.html
Alana, I feel the same about winter… it does go on and on but now that we are past Valentine’s Day and Ash Wednesday is this week, I think we’ll all be amazed at how soon it is Easter, etc.! Thanks for joining in for all these years!
I’m pleasantly surprised that GBBD is still a thing! I have been away from the garden blogging world for many years, and am now starting over with a new blog, and it’s lovely to still have something so familiar!
First post on the new blog: https://herbamirabilis1.wordpress.com/2026/02/15/es-bluht-schon-was/
Yes, still a thing, but ending after this year. Thanks for coming back.
Twenty years of Bloom Days–that’s certainly impressive! I don’t have anything blooming outside, but someone else in Madison posted that they have Snowdrops blooming. Some of mine are poking through, so it won’t be long. Seems too early, but oh well. Happy Bloom Day!
I really love the geraniums! here is my post:

Lovely blooms. Thanks for joining in!
Well, I’m late as has often been the case. No crocus for me but I do have Adonis in bloom amidst the snow-covered landscape. https://macgardens.org/?p=8134
Late, but worth the wait! Thanks for joining in!
Definitely nothing blooming here at my new Michigan home, but I’m thrilled to see your crocus. I’ll definitely be adding some this fall. Even though I was busy moving in and unpacking this past fall, I did manage to plant a small patch of daffodils, and one of tulips. It’s a start!
