Winter shapes a garden like no other season

March 5, 2014 By Carol Michel 2 Comments

A few weeks ago

Winter shapes a garden like no other season.

Winter is why I don’t grow camellias, and why I grow lilacs.

Winter is why I plant tulips and daffodils, hyacinths and snowdrops.

I don’t think about whether or not a plant will live through spring, summer, or fall in my garden.

I wonder if it will survive through winter.

Winter shapes a garden like no other season.

Oh so true, Carol. I just blogged about how the day before yesterday, I was despondent about my garden. Today my hope has been revived. What a difference a day makes in the winter.

Well winter is certainly shaping my garden this year. Or will I forget this and once again try to shape it myself.
