First there was one book, then there were two, then there were three because I liked the idea of a trilogy. It had a nice ring to it! A trilogy of gardening humor!
So when I wrote the fourth book, Creatures and Critters, I had the designer make the cover look different because it wasn’t going to be part of the trilogy.
Then I wrote the fifth book, Digging and Delighted, and realized that it was part of the trilogy and so was Creatures and Critter and what I really had was a series of books and one of them was sticking out like a sore thumb.
So, presto change-o, abracadabra, I changed the cover of Creatures and Critters so now it fits in with the others.
A series of five books is called a pentalogy. But I don’t like that word one bit so I’m going to refer to it as either a series, which implies there could be more, or quintology, which is also a real word.
Oh, let’s just be optimistic and call it a series. After all, the garden fairies are mumbling around about wanting to write the sixth book in the series. We’ll see. They are garden fairies, after all.
In the meantime, this picture is a better representation of the actual color of the new cover. (Not sure why it grayed out in the banner photo, but I have no time to fix that right now.) I have updated my online store to include Creatures and Critters with the new cover in softcover. Be sure and pick the item that starts with “new cover.” Otherwise, I’ll send you a copy with the old cover (which I’ve knocked down to $10 to move ’em out.)
Who knows, sometime in the future, some collector of old gardening books may pay big bucks to get that old cover version. I think I’ve updated it online every place else so if you order from Amazon or Bookshop.org or any other online venue, you will get the new cover, or should get the new cover! Only I have the old cover. Hmmm…maybe it should cost more now that it is rare? Nope. $10 it is for the softcover version until they are gone.
Hardbacks with the new cover are on their way and I’ll add them to the online store when I get them.
And yes, thanks for asking, the hardbacks of all my gardening humor books are still on sale for $16 each. I plan to end that sale on Friday, September 17th.
Happy Gardening, and reading about gardening!
And I fixed that picture.
