My co-workers, knowing that I don’t often travel, surprised me last week with a bag full of what they thought might be helpful items for me to take along on my trip to the Garden Bloggers’ Spring Fling.
My boss thought I might need this Winnie the Pooh garden magnifying glass so I could get a real good look at the plants.
I wonder what the other gardeners would have thought of me if I had pulled out my magnifying glass to look closer at some of the plants?
My boss also included some Fairy Talkies in the bag of travel goodies.
He thought perhaps these would be useful on garden tours. “You go over there, I’ll go over here and we’ll use these walkie-talkie’s to keep in touch.”
Really, the five-year old deep down within me was jumping up and down thinking how fun these would be! I would have loved this toy when I was little. Shoot, I love this toy now!
On the back of the package, there are some ideas on what to do with these fairy talkies, ideas like pretending you are on fairy radio and singing silly songs or making up fairy names to call each other.
Wait a minute, there. Garden fairies have names? I hadn’t thought of that, but of course they would have names. Every living thing has a name, right?
So do I have a garden fairy equivalent to my name? I looked online and found a very handy fairy name generator and found out that I do have a garden fairy name equivalent!
And guess what my garden fairy name is?

I guess there are a lot of toys for little girls right now that have this flower or garden fairy theme. Hopefully it will encourage them to go outside and play, and when they are outside they might discover flowers and plants and maybe even become interested in gardening.
Then who knows where that interest in gardening, nurtured from a very young age, might someday lead them? It might just lead them to do more gardening, start a blog about their garden, and then one day end up going to meet other gardeners in a far away place, like Texas.
