Buffalo, New York. The quintessential snow storm city, forever pictured in the minds of out-of-towners as a place where snow is ever present. Forget about all of that!
Now it’s Buffalo, New York. The quintessential gardening city, forever pictured in the minds of gardeners and other people as a place where gardens are everywhere. Remember it that way!
From exuberant plantings of perennials and annuals in that strip of ground between the sidewalk and the street…
To the serenity of a Japanese garden…
From a quiet corner set up as a perfect spot to read and while away the hours on a summer afternoon…
To a vegetable garden growing in containers…
Whatever kind of garden you are looking for, you’ll find it in Buffalo, and you’ll likely find gardens you weren’t looking for and fall in love with gardening for the first time, or maybe fall in love with gardening for the one millionth time.
Buffalo, New York. The quintessential gardening city.

So close and yet so far…..I was really hoping to travel down the 2 hours of highway to come to this event – but had to work out of town this week. Hope you are having a great time and that the weather is cooperating.

I will now think of Buffalo as a garden city too. These peeks into some gardens are special.

One of these years, I'd like to attend one of these gatherings. Until then I'll enjoy reading others' posts about them. I like the gardens you've found so far.

I've just knighted you as a Buffalo Ambassador. This is EXACTLY what I want people to know about this city I CHOOSE to call home.

Lest we forget. Lest we forget. When next we read of snowstorms in Buffalo or discover in one of Anne Rule's books an account of "frozen waves" in midwinter on the lake outside of Buffalo, that Buffalo when warm weather does begin, the people living there plant with joy and design. Their nurseries are prosperous and they keep seed companies jumping to fulfil orders.

That photo of the Japanese garden is sublime.

Carol, I don't think there was a gardener among us who doesn't secretly or not so secretly want to be transplanted to Buffalo. Who knew? – Now we know! It was so great to meet you at last.

My husband and I are planning a 40th anniversary trip to Buffalo the week of July 10-14 or 15. We can't wait to see all the gardens.
Any chance you'd have a lead on a reasonably priced bed and breakfast in one of the districts???
We don't need luxury, but enjoy quaintness.
Thanks for any tips you might have!
