“Hello, Carol!”
Hello, Dr. Hortfreud. Is it time for another session?
“Yes, it’s been a while since our last session and I’ve noticed something we should talk about.”
Something to talk about? I can’t imagine what that might be.
“Really, you can’t imagine? Did you see the picture you took of the rabbit in your garden path?”
I did…
“Carol, you have a path in your garden that is the same color as the rabbits, which allows them to hide in plain sight.”
Purely coincidental, I assure you, Dr. H.
“Coincidence? Is there such a thing? Perhaps. But regardless, maybe it says somthing about your real feelings about rabbits. After all, I also noticed that earlier this spring, you discovered a rabbit warren underneath your honeylocust tree, then watched baby rabbits jump out of it, and did nothing.”
Um, yes. I admit that happened.
“Carol, I think this points out that you aren’t really trying to get rabbits to stay out of your garden.”
Maybe I’ve realized that it’s possible for me to garden with rabbits after all.
“It is possible, Carol! I’m so proud of you for realizing it.”
So, I’m okay?
“You are, as long as you know they can still eat crocuses and tulips, green bean seedlings, and more.”
I realize that. I’m still fine with letting them stay here.
“Good. I’ll make a few notes about that and we’ll close out this session.”
