I heard winter was finally coming so I rushed around and took down all the outdoor Christmas lights, then I potted up some house plants. There was a little Johnny Jump Up Viola blooming by the garage.

Bitterly cold and windy, but sunny. At least the temperatures have gotten in the swing of winter. I wore a pair of long-johns. Should I tell you that kind of stuff, Gardener’s Journal? It’s too cold to check on that little Johnny Jump Up Viola.

What a pretty, sunny day. If I hadn’t been at work I might have been tempted to do some garden clean up this afternoon. There are some weeds in the vegetable garden that probably loved this weather. But really, we need some winter.

Okay, the temps are moving in the right direction now, though it was so sunny out there. I suppose if I hadn’t been conditioned to stay inside by decades of cold January weather, I might have gone out to work in the garden today. That Johnny Jump Up is blooming again. I’ve enclosed a picture.

Another sunny day. Really? Is this March? Stop messing with me, I want some real winter. If we don’t get it now, we’ll get it eventually. Right? I’d rather pay now than in March. Oh, by the way, I saw a yellow-flowering Crown of Thorns (Euphorbia milii) at the store, but I didn’t buy it.

Sunny and nice, again. I’m starting to get a little freaked out by the lack of winter. Then I feel guilty that I’m not taking advantage of these nice days to do some weeding, or something, outside in the garden. I didn’t sleep well last night. I swear it was NOT because I didn’t buy the yellow-flowering Crown of Thorns. It’s because I miss winter.

It has been a mild winter for many. Hopefully, everyone will get some cold temps….just not here in Tucson, please:)

It certainly as been a crazy winter so far – here in Ontario we really haven't seen much snow at all – my muscari are peeking through the ground. But I saw there is snow in our forecast for later in the week. I knew it was too good to last.
I feel the same way. Everybody I talk to seems happy about the unseasonably warm weather but I miss the snow. There is a reason I live in Southwest Michigan and part of it is the lovely snowy winters.
I'd rather pay now than in March, too. I'm getting really worried. Gray and 35 degrees today.
I would like the temperature to never go below 30 degrees, because I hate winter. Iwould love to live in a warmer climate.
I suppose I should go look for the frost cloths since I hear tell an Arctic front is barreling towards many of us.
Arctic front, big whoop. We might get another dusting of snow and lows in the mid 20's for a couple days before back to the 50's again for highs. If that's enough to keep things sleeping fine. Otherwise this could mean trouble. May might be messed up.
I have been quite busy however in the garden getting all kinds of chores done.
I've been thinking the same thing, it's been looking and feeling like March. Thank goodness it's finally snowing. I'm so glad you managed to find that Euphorbia.

That is much the way our weather has been… but 5 degrees colder on average. Maybe snow this weekend though… I will not hold my breath.
I admire the commitment it takes to post in a garden journal each day. I would like to think I could do that too, adopting yours as a good idea, but know I wouldn't keep up with it.
