Black Barlow Blooms: A Guest Post

May 12, 2009 By Carol Michel 10 Comments

Hi, Everyone. It’s me again Aquilegia ‘Black Barlow’.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their concern after I was recently attacked by the columbine sawfly larvae.

Gosh, that was scary, but Carol took matters into her own hands, literally, and those larvae are gone and I’m recovering.

As you can see, I am blooming, though I did have a bit of a scare when Carol was setting up the hose nearby. She says it wasn’t her fault, but I was almost knocked over by that darn hose! Gosh, after all I’ve been through, you’d think she would be more careful around me! I’m a delicate flower, after all!

Anyway, I hear I’m getting moved because this really isn’t a good spot for me. I’m heading out to one of the perennial gardens, maybe as early as this evening before some predicted storms pass through tomorrow morning.

My bags are packed and I’m ready to go. I’ll do my best to put down roots in my new location and return next spring stronger and taller with even more blooms.

Again, thanks to all for your kind concern!

I love a story with a happy ending. I’m still finding a few of the nasty little buggers on my Columbines, but I hope the worst is over.

Glad you got your bags packed and are ready to go. Good thing it’s just to the backyard and not on a jet plane.~~Dee
