Ladies and gentleman, fellow gardeners.
This trial plant of ‘Everleaf Emerald Towers’ Basil has been growing in an 8 inch clay pot on my patio all summer, reaching a height of over 27 inches, with no flowers.
Basil lovers everywhere. Let me repeat. No flowers. All summer.
And no pinching to get that nice straight up growth.
And no downy mildew.
Update: And it tastes great too.
I am most assuredly going to grow this basil again next year when it is introduced to the market.
Please, oh please, I hope my local greenhouse grower grows some for me. I’m going to tell them to! I don’t want to take any chances of not having this in my garden next year.
You know who else is going to grow this basil? My sister who doesn’t really garden.
After listening to several episodes of The Gardenangelists podcast, she has decided that she should grow some basil, maybe even inside in her sunroom in the winter, and most definitely outside next year.
I’m going to get her some plants of ‘Everleaf Emerald Towers’ to grow. They would look great in a larger pot, with other herbs planted around the base.
Anyway, check it out, let me know what you think!
