Welcome to Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day for November 2021.
Here in my USDA Hardiness Zone 6a garden in Central Indiana, the first snow of the season fell on the morning of November 14th.
Even with the snow, the last of the autumn crocuses, featured in my last post, are still pretty bits of color, leftover flowers from the late autumn.
Out in the front garden, the last of the Sorbet violas are still blooming.
I’m letting them fade out and go to seed. I’m hoping for their return in early spring as they are supposed to be perennials in my hardiness zone.
Nearby, I spied the last of Geranium ‘Rozanne’ blooms.
These have been blooming for months!
Inside, the Thanksgiving cactus has started to bloom, right on schedule.
It’s just getting started but should be in full bloom by the time we celebrate Thanksgiving on November 25th. Then it’s on to…
Hey, is that more snow?
Indeed it is. But by the time this post actually goes live, I expect most of the snow will be gone. Plus Tuesday’s high temperature is supposed to be in the low 60s (Fahrenheit). That will give me a chance to finish some garden clean up and put up some Christmas lights before the next wave of cold weather reminds us that winter is coming.
What’s blooming in your garden on in mid-November? Join us for Garden Bloggers’ Bloom Day and show us. It’s easy to participate. Post on your blog about your blooms, then come back here and leave a link in the Mr. Linky widget and a comment to let us know what you have to show us.
And remember, “We can have flowers nearly every month of the year.” ~ Elizabeth Lawrence

Let’s hear a big round of applause for the violas!

No snow accumulation yet. We are supposed to be back in the 50s by Wednesday. We still have some trees with green leaves where I live in New York State – unbelievable. Enjoyed seeing your violas and the Thanksgiving cactus – my Thanksgiving cactus has buds and should be blooming by the end of the week.

It’s nice to see those violas still hanging in! There’s no snow here yet but frost on the pumpkin and one of the most colorful Fall seasons I’ve seen in a while, so I am enjoying that for now. There are a few blooms remaining outdoors and my Thanksgiving cactus are blooming indoors, so I’ll show them next time! Be well and enjoy the holiday season.

Wow. Snow is a foreign concept in my part of the country. Sadly, rain is becoming one too. But, so far, I still have blooms. Thanks for hosting, Carol!

Couldn’t get Mr. Linky to accept any photos this morning, so here’s my link to November’s blooms. I’ll try again later, and/or on a different browser.

Snow…. Omg! You are a tough cookie. We haven’t even had our first frost.

Wow, snow already. No snow here but we have had a cooler than usual fall for which we in zone 9a are very grateful. Happy Bloom Day.

Similar things are happening here, Carol, not surprisingly. Thanks for hosting!

Hurrah for plants that can live in frosty conditions! Seeing your plants still blooming is great. Thanks for sharing them with us.

Hi Carol, late again, but you keep me thinking about recording the progress in the yard. My yard is an advertisment for mid-atlantic camellias at the moment…

I am very surprised with a Shasta daisy hanging on. My perennial ;bachelor buttons are still blooming, even after hard freeze and snow. My Thanksgiving cactus has lots of buds, but no blooms, yet.

It’s amazing to see those tough flowers blooming through the first cold blasts of winter. My Thanksgiving cactus, like yours, has begun to bloom right on schedule.
