I got an email this morning from our podcast hosting service that the podcast episode Dee and I published today is our 200th episode.
I think that’s kind of a big deal, even though I wasn’t keeping track of it!
There are some statistics available about how many podcasts are started and then abandoned. If I wasn’t so busy weeding and picking green beans, I’d look them up.
It’s way less than 200, I can assure you of that.
When Dee and I started our podcast back in… what year was it?
I’m back… had to look it up. We started our podcast with our first episode on November 10, 2018. Since then, we’ve managed to publish an episode every week and even did a couple of bonus episodes.
My favorite bonus episode is still “Weeding with the Gardenangelists.” I won’t listen to it again, though, because I’ll hear all the flaws.
We recorded it way back in May 2019. Since then, I think we’ve improved and changed and morphed the podcast so that it is reliably a nice conversation between two great gardening friends who just want to share their enthusiasm and love of gardening. “We love gardening and we want you to love it too.”
My favorite regular episode… it’s hard to choose. Like looking at a hatch of little baby chicks and trying to find the best of the bunch. Or using a gardening analogy, it’s like looking at a flat of pansies and choosing the prettiest one. (Groan, Carol just couldn’t resist mentioning pansies!)
Let’s go with the one that won an award this year from the National Federation of Press Women – “We almost became a math podcast! Kidding! Still about gardening…” For that episode, we received a first place at the state level from the Woman’s Press Club of Indiana and then placed second nationally.
We continue to look for ways to improve with each episode. Earlier this summer, we started a weekly newsletter on Substack, The Gardenangelists’ Podcast Newsletter. This gives us a chance to be a little wordier in our show notes, which are limited to mostly links in our regular show notes. Plus, subscribers can get it in their email inbox!
Even if you don’t listen to our podcast, you might like the newsletter, just for the news, notes, and links.
And if you just read all this and are thinking, “I sure wish I knew how to listen to podcasts,” I wrote a post with instructions on listening to podcasts.
Occasionally, Dee or I will embed a podcast episode in a blog post, like this one:
You can just listen from your computer! (If you have speakers, that is.)
Anyway, that’s enough rambling about The Gardenangelists and 200 episodes.
Thank you to all of you who listen to our podcast every week and email us and leave kind reviews. You’ve kept us inspired through 200 episodes!

Congratulations to both of you. I have weeded many a weed with you ladies – even before your little cute podcast about weeding. I can’t imagine just sitting in a chair listening to you two. Have to get out in the dirt with you.
Keep weeding and carry on for another 200.
Peace,
