You know how it is on that first really fine spring day? You step outside and the sky is blue, the grass is green and the garden is all new again. It’s the real beginning of the planting season, springtime.
Today, as the first snow of the season blanketed the landscape, I stepped outside and the sky was a bit overcast, the grass was covered with new snow and the garden was nearly dormant. It’s the real beginning of the dreaming season, wintertime.
Another year in the garden has past, through winter, spring, summer, and fall.
Now it’s time for fires in the fireplace, hot tea, and warm socks. It’s time for wrapping up in afghans and surrounding oneself with gardening books, seed catalogs, garden journals, and notepads to begin dreaming about and planning for next year’s garden.
It’s winter at May Dreams Gardens.

Well, it sounds lovely. It does. Can I have hot chocolate instead of tea? No marshmallows.
Angela @ Cottage Magpie says
Cocoa for me, too, please. And a HUGE stack of gardening magazines and catalogs! 🙂

It certainly is winter at May Dreams Gardens and how pretty your garden looks. We hardly ever have any snow here, such a pity.
Well Carol, sweet dreams about your dream garden to be!

You lucky lady getting such a lovely blanket of white tossed over your sleeping garden. You can relax now with a cup of tea and dream.

Tea ? Hot chocolate ? Southern Comfort is the only thing that’ll take away the Chicago chill.
Lovely winter photo of your garden, Carol. We’ve got a lot of the white stuff here as well.

Your pretty winter scene looks straight off a XMas card, Carol. Enjoy your dreams of May.

Even without the snow, it’s a time for dreaming and a time to recharge our batteries for the energy we’ll need in April!
Thanks for the snow scene :o)

I envy your winter dreams. My slow season is late summer. Somehow sitting in the shade panting for breath, swatting at mosquitoes while drenched in sweat doesn’t seem quite as romantic compared with your winter scene–even if I’m braced by a frozen margarita.

How pretty – you captured the snow falling. I prefer hot cocoa with a shot of Frangelico in it, or, during the day English Toffee dessert tea.

No sitting around with cocoa by the fire here, the bird feeders are all the way at the back of the lot and the birds can go through a couple of pounds on a cold day.

what a beautiful picture, Carol. Your garden is beautiful even in sleep.

All.. thanks for the comments and kind words. The snow is still here, though it might melt this weekend as temperatures go above freezing again.
I hope you all find time to enjoy your hot chocolate, hot toddy or whatever it is that warms you, this weekend.

What a beautiful scene! I too miss this kind of thing here in south Florida…it sure looks like it would be heavenly with the cold air, sleigh rides (I hope you get to do this too), and the hot chocolate, etc. I know I would not be able to go to work…retirement would be a definate at this point of COLD!!!
