We finally had a sunny day after several days of gray, cold weather. I didn’t think it would be so nice, as the day started out rainy and overcast, but by early afternoon, the clouds were gone and it was a pretty, sunny spring day. I got a few more pansies and planted them in where the frost had nipped the ones I planted a few weeks ago. I also continued the cleaning up old perennials. I’ve filled two of my three compost bins and have much more to clean up. I don’t know what I’ll do with all the trimmings, as I don’t like to put them out for the trash pick up. Somehow, like every year, I’ll figure it out, and make it work.
So far, the following are blooming: Crocuses, Daffodils, Hyacinths, Lenten Rose. (I picked some miniature daffodils and hyacinths to take to work.
I expect the following to start blooming within the week: Forsythia, Star Magnolia, Vinca.
Flowers seem a little late compared to previous years, but we’ve had some many gray, overcast, cold days, that it is not suprising.
