We woke up this morning to see that we had finally gotten our first significant snowfall of the winter. This is a picture of the raised bed vegetable garden, taken from about the same spot I took pictures from this summer. It was one of those wet, heavy snows that will probably be mostly gone in a few days, if temperatures go above freezing. This is actually normal weather for January, so we aren’t alarmed or worried about it. We just shovel our drives, throw some extra bird seed out for the birds, and keep dreaming about spring.
I’ll have to remember this picture next summer when we have those really hot days that make the garden (and the gardener) wilt by noon. I’m sure it will at least mentally cool me down.
I’ll also remember that today is the day that the Indianapolis Colts won the AFC Championship. They, and the entire city, are heading to the Super Bowl! Go Colts!

We’ve just had our first snow in the past week too! I was beginning to wonder if we’d ever get snow this year. Not that I like the cold weather that came with it or anything of course. LOL
Nice photo! I’m going to have to take a pic of my snowy garden too. I didn’t protect the garden this year. usually I have burlap around a number of plants and while it protects them it looks ugly! Hopefully I don’t lose any plants this year by not protecting them … but at least I can take a nicer pic of my snowy garden this year.

Still trying to figure out how the Colt’s won. We turned it off at half-time — too depressing. Glad to find out they won!

I love winter images, so fresh and crisp looking. It’s 15years since I last saw snow.

Hi Carol,
I knew you’d be excited–that game was amazing! Yes…I rooted for the Colts. Even though Tom Brady is a former Wolverine. I hope the Colts whup the Bears, too 🙂

The photo of your garden in snow looks a bit like the Japanese garden at Ryoanji temple. I think it’s the uncluttered spare quality of the picture.

Our snow is already gone! Boohoo.. It drizzled just enough yesterday afternoon to take about 98% of it. Go Colts!

The geometry of your beds looks beautiful covered in snow, Carol. There is some satisfaction in seeing nature behave as expected, isn’t there!
