Gardening Motto Generator

February 21, 2021 By Carol 3 Comments

Do you have a motto for your garden this year?

Usually around the beginning of the calendar year, I see posts and videos from people who are adopting a motto to guide them through the year. A verbal North Star of sorts.

Presumably, when these people get into a tight spot, or have a decision to make, they go back to their motto for the year and apply it. Maybe their motto is “Be Bold!” and they can’t decide whether to get one or two pumps of whatever it is they pump into those fancy drinks at that fancy place that begins with an S that is everywhere. Applying their motto…

Apologies to those who come up with mottos and then use them as their guide. That was a rather flippant example. No one really uses a motto to choose a drink, right?

Even more apologies because I’m about to show you a motto generator for your gardening year.

What? You’ve never thought of a motto just for your gardening year? Well, now that’s changed, hasn’t it? You’ve just read this and now you’re asking yourself, “Hmmm… should I have a gardening motto? A theme for the year? What should it be?”

Wonder and worry about it no more. I’ve come up with a gardening motto generator to help you out.

Here it is!

Just pick the first word based on your name. Pick the second word based on your birth month. That’s your motto, destined by the stars, by Mother Nature, by the universe. If you like it, keep it. If you don’t like it, I have good news for you.

You can change your gardening motto.

Just pick the word for any letter you like and a second word for any month you like. There are many good combinations. 120 combinations, if I’ve done my math correctly. Combinations like:

Garden Thoughtfully

Sow Deliberately

Prune Fiercely

On and on…

I hope this was helpful, and even though lighthearted, gave you a moment of pause before the gardening season kicks off to think about how you plan to garden this year. Me? My motto just might be

Garden, weed, plant, tend, grow, change, dig, prune, sow, harvest thoughtfully, carefully, wildly, daily, slowly, quickly, verdantly, simply, deliberately, mindfully, fiercely, and seasonably.

What’s your gardening motto going to be?

Chuckle chuckle…I won’t go with either first or last name’s proposed motto. I have many winter plants inside, and am gardening all year, just in containers. So there’s a bit of difference in how I consider my “garden.” For now it’s orchids, violets, and Kalancho, and I surprisinglly found blooms on the rosemary! The purple shamrock blooms year round too. So my motto might be, gimme a break! Nah, just some days it feels like that.

I’ve never thought of a garden motto before, but what a fun idea! Thanks for sharing, it gave me a laugh and a direction to ponder for this season…
