Garden fairies here.
We are garden fairies and we just realized that it is almost the end of January and Carol hasn’t come up with a word of the year to guide her gardening activities.
So, once again, we garden fairies must come to the rescue and come up with a word for Carol.
Honestly, we have no idea what Carol does with her time and why she didn’t come up with a word much earlier in the month. We did notice her Goodreads profile shows 10 books read this year already, so maybe that is part of the problem? Looking around her house, it’s certainly not because she’s cleaning or doing anything like that.
Anyway, we garden fairies gathered around and tossed out some ideas.
Plant. Sow. Harvest. Rabbits. Violas. Dig.
Boring, boring, and more boring.
Finally, Hortensia and Honoraria came up with Garden More.
Then Seedy and Soddy pointed out that Garden More was two words, not one.
So Ol’ Rainbow Tanglefly suggested that the space be removed and then it would be “GardenMore.”
And then that opened the floodgates, which several pointed out is a legitimate word made from two words. Several more doublewords were added to the list.
FairiesRule was very popular and the lead contender for quite some time.
Then someone suggested MoreViolas. This was never a lead contender. We are garden fairies, we suspect Carol would not need a word like this to convince her to plant more violas and pansies.
Also popular was AnHourADay, going back to last fall when Carol gardened for an hour every day. But then Hortensia said that was just too many words combined, and Honoria rightly agreed.
Finally, after much discussion, we garden fairies voted and decided that the word of the year would be…
GardenMore.
We are garden fairies.

GardenMore, I approve! I’ve never chosen a Word of the Year before, and obviously this is something I need to do.
