Garden Bloggers’ Book Club Update and More!

March 5, 2008 By Carol Michel 5 Comments

The garden is “closed” due to an ice storm. It’s the perfect evening to sit around and read about gardening and think about gardening and wish you could be out gardening.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Garden Bloggers’ Book Club Update
Of course, at the top of the stack of books I’m reading is Second Nature: A Gardener’s Education by Michael Pollan, the Garden Bloggers’ Book Club selection for February-March.
It’s easy to join in this virtual book club. Read the book, post something about it on your blog, let me know about your review via an email or comment, and then I’ll include a link to your review on the virtual meeting post on March 31st.
That’s all there is to it. You don’t have to ask in advance, be approved to become a member or anything like that.
In fact, you don’t even have to read the book. If you don’t have time to read this book, you can still participate by posting a review of any book written by Pollan. Or if you have another idea for a related post, go for it. The more the merrier.
Garden Bloggers’ Book Club April-May Selection
Do you have a suggestion for the April-May book club selection? I’ve got some ideas around here somewhere, suggested by many of you. Don’t make me go find the list!
Send or re-send your suggestions via a comment or email and I’ll compile a list, drop it in a survey and then put it to a vote of the book club “membership”. Are you a member? Sure you are if you are reading this and even think you might join in.
Special Garden Book Tour Event
And speaking of books, I’m pretty excited that May Dreams Gardens will be a stop on Susan Wittig Albert’s blog tour to promote her new China Bayles mystery Nightshade.
On March 24th, Susan will be my guest blogger with some information on “notorious nightshades”. Will it be about my favorite member of the nightshade family, tomatoes, or some more sinister plants?
Check back on March 24th to find out and to enter a drawing to win a first edition copy of Nightshade.
    I’m looking forward to your blog tour with Susan Wittig Albert. She’s going to be at the Spring Fling, ya know, and is donating two of her botanical-themed mysteries to our door-prize drawing.
    I’m looking forward to the blog tour by Susan. I’m thrilled that she will be a guest on my blog too. I sure wish I could go to the Spring Fling and meet up with all the great bloggers and guests there.
    A new mystery writer for me, how have I missed her?
    We;re having the ice storm today, Carol, though the wind is actually keeping some of the ice formation down to a dull roar. Crazy, crazy weather!
    I don’t know this author you’ve all mentioned, or the series of novels. I’m goig to write it in my notebook and go seek her out in the local bookstores!
    I’m working my way through the China Bayles books after reading about them not long ago on someone’s blog…they are really fun and I’m looking forward to the blog tour. I hope you survived the ice storm…my aunt in Ohio is getting it, too, and apparently lots of people are without electricity in the Cleveland area.
