Time for another “rose, thorn, bud” post.
A rose is something going well or nice.
I’d say it is nice that some of the mums I’ve planted out in the garden have reliably returned each year as perennial flowers. I should pinch them back in late spring, but don’t usually so sometimes they are a bit floppy, but I like them that way. It’s a nice contrast to the “puff balls” of mums you can buy now.
A thorn is something not going well.
I hesitate to mention it because I know some areas of the country have gotten far too much rain lately, but we could use some rain. I notice that some of the trees have leaves that are drying up rather than changing colors. That can’t be good. We did get a little over an inch of rain one night last week, but honestly, we could use a few more nights like that one.
A bud is something to look forward to.
I’m looking forward to the autumn crocuses popping up. Every year I wonder where they are but then closer to the end of October, they all pop up with a cheery, “Here we are, Carol!”
It’s nice when flowers greet you like that.
Rose, thorns, and buds, we all have them in our gardens and in our lives!
