Like a kid with trading cards, I shuffle the seed packets from one hand to another. I lay them out on the table and look them over. I sort them by type and I admire the art on each package. I go to bed dreaming of the garden because…

When people ask if I’m ready for spring, I can be emphatic in my answer. I am ready for the sowing days because…

Well, from what I can see you have about half of the seeds you normally buy each year.
Oh, that’s because I need to order more seeds.
So should you really be shouting “I’ve got seeds” while jumping up and down like a garden fairy who just discovered the first violet bloom of spring?
Well, technically, I guess not. I guess I should really be saying…
I’ve got some seeds!
And I promise myself I’ll order the rest of the seeds I need this weekend.
Hooray for seeds! I just placed my final order of the year, and it made me a little sad. You cheered me up! I've got seeds too! 🙂
Mine are also spread out over the kitchen table for me to arrange and peruse! All that potential in the bleak midwinter.
Congrats on receiving 'some' of your seeds….It's the anticipation of spring when they finally arrive and you hold them in your hands!
Whooo hoooo, love those seeds. There is a stack here too. Fun to shuffle through those packets full of such wonderful scents and colors as you can sense them in your minds eye. Especially when the outside world is white like a clean palette.
The best part of winter…the seeds and their potential.
Have fun getting stuff going. It is a great way to battle the doldrums, my dad tells me.

A garden of potential in every packet, seeds are what gardening is all about. I think I need more seeds.
Before I started garden blogging I didn't give much thought to seeds…now I'm embarrassed to admit it! The seed epidemic is spreading:-) The packets are sometimes so pretty I don't want to open them!
Dear Carol, I know exactly the feeling you describe – the ordering and arrival of seeds is a compulsive part of gardening. Sometimes it really does not matter if one does nothing with them – it is the promise which is so important.
My young friends, sadly, grow nothing from seed as today there is so much available either as fully grown plants or as plugs.
