I took this picture of the autumn crocuses, Crocus speciosus, yesterday because I am amazed at how they are slowly multiplying. The photo is proof of that there are a few more blooms every year.
(It’s also proof that I’m not a great photographer… full sun, didn’t try to hide plants that have been frozen out or those that just dried out from lack of rain.)
The tommies, Crocus tommasinisanus, are also multiplying with more blooms every late winter/spring in the back lawn and front borders.
Multiplying.
Now I have crocuses in late fall and in late winter and early spring.
But what’s really nice to consider is there are just three months from when the autumn crocuses fade until I start looking for the first of the tommies to show up in mid-February.
On the continuum of time, three months is not that long. From crocus to crocus, just three months.
