I am patiently waiting for the tomatoes to ripen.
They seem to be taking their time this year but honestly I don’t think they are taking that much more time than usual.
If they all ripen at once, I’ll be the lottery winner who won the jackpot in tomatoes. Instead of figuring out what to do with all the summer squash, I’ll be turning my attention to all the tomatoes.
I am patiently waiting!
In the meantime, I sat patiently for a few minutes and watch a hummingbird flit amongst the salvias.
You’ll have to take my word for it that there was a hummingbird here, right before I took this picture.
Those hummingbirds are fast, just like summer seems to be, especially for the kids in the neighborhood who I believe are returning to school today. They barely had time to be bored, which in my opinion is a shame. Being bored in the summertime was a highlight of summer for us. (Not at the time, but in retrospect!) That’s when we would come up with something fun to do, or try something new, or just read a great book.
And eat tomatoes.
I am patiently waiting.

Have gotten a few ripe ones–success! Last year only got one–and it arrived in late October.
Enjoy yours. They surely won’t be long.

hb, that would make me not want to grow tomatoes if I only got one at the end of the season!

You should go check them! Last weekend I was only harvesting the cherry tomatoes – now we have more tomatoes than we can eat.
Carol says
Tracy, they are slowly ripening and I picked a bunch a few days later. Yum!
