Garden fairies here. We are garden fairies and we have questions.
No, we do not have questions about these plants. We know what they are, why they are, who they are, where they are, and how they are. We are garden fairies.
What we have questions about are some mysterious stakes that Carol pounded into the back lawn, the sea of green, the Green Ocean, that great and vast area that many a garden fairy has crossed to get from one side of the garden to the other.
And now, smack dab in the middle… stakes. And on top of each stake, Carol put a clay pot.
Now, before we show you the picture so you can study it, let us say that Carol has been as good as gold this September. She has faithfully kept to her plan to spend time in the garden each and every day. Sometimes it’s an hour. Sometimes it’s more. Rarely is it less.
So we’ve let her make an X for every day of September so far, even that day when it rained all day long because in a lull in the rain she went out and planted two new shrubs (wonderful sample shrubs she got from Proven Winners). Then she faithfully recorded those new shrubs on the Trello board where she tracks her plant samples. Whatever that is. She also has a Trello board for tracking gardening activities, but mostly from what we can see she mostly keeps track of when she mows. Or should we say mow-stly?
Anyway, we are garden fairies, we barely know what these Trello boards are all about but let us tell you one thing straight away that if Carol thinks for one minute she’s going to keep track of us garden fairies on one of those things… well, Ol’ Rainbow Tanglefly said he didn’t think she would. Granny ‘Gus’ McGarden concurred and then Honoria and Hortensia said they’d keep watch and thwart her if she did.
Anyway, the following is not to disparage Carol in anyway. We want to keep on her good side and therefore we will show you what we saw and then begin our speculation.
We are still studying this to figure out what is going on but what we’ve come up with several hypotheses so far.
Ol’ Rainbow Tanglefly declares it is going to be a new planting bed.
Seedy and Soddy thinks she’s going to dig that area for a pond. However, pretty much everyone disgreed with them because all agree Carol is far too lazy to put in a fish pond. And she’s smart enough to know there are probably a lot of tree roots in that area, so digging wouldn’t be the easiest thing in the world.
Honoria and Hortensia put their heads together and decided maybe she just likes to put stakes randomly in the back lawn and that’s all there is to it. But others said that didn’t make sense because then she would have to mow around each stake and that would disrupt her rhythm and flow.
Of course, after all the discussion, Granny ‘Gus’ McGarden stepped up and declared it was an x-spear-e-mint. She thinks Carol is going to stop mowing in that square just to see what happens.
All nodded and concurred and thought given Carol’s general laziness, that was as good a guess as any.
Anyway, we are garden fairies, it is fall, and we are far too busy preparing for leaf coloring and leaf skiing and so we must turn over a new leaf and leaf this for now or at leaft for another day. But we will not leaf people wondering forever.
We are garden fairies. We’ll report back as soon as we figure out what’s really going on.
