In honor of National Poetry Month, which is every April, I present some book spine poetry, gardener’s edition.
I just learned about book spine poetry which was originally created by the artist Nina Katchadourian in 1993. Now it is a “thing” as they say, with memes devoted to it and pictures of the poems all over the internet.
My contributions are all stacks of gardening books I have around my house.
The general idea is to go through your books, or those of someone you know, and pull out titles that look interesting, and then stack the books up to create your own poem.
Yes, I did sneak my books into the stacks. Thanks for noticing.
Oh, wait. This stack didn’t include one of my books. Perhaps it should include the title of my next book, Digging and Delighted: Live Your Best Gardening Life. (No, George, it hasn’t been published yet, but it is getting closer!)
Another one sans one of my books. Still, I think it is pretty good… hinting at the weirdness of some plants.
Feel free to intepret my other book spine poems as you wish. Or, if you decide to try it, let me know where you’ve posted pictures of them so I can check them out!
