Garden fairies here. We are garden fairies and we are doing what everyone does in January. We are going through all the seeds to determine if Carol has enough for this spring, summer, and fall.
We do this every year and usually have to then give Carol subtle clues to order her seeds because she tends to wait until later to order them. No, we cannot and will not tell you what those subtle clues are as that would reduce their effectiveness—their magic—if people knew about them.
We are pleased to report that this year, we did not have to use our secret clues.
This year, Carol’s friend Dee sent her a text the first week of January letting her know that she was ordering seeds and already seeing some “sold out” notices on some varieties. Well, we garden fairies have never seen Carol order seeds so fast.
We were concerned at first that she would forget some seed varieties but after taking inventory, we are pleased to report that we are still garden fairies and we believe that Carol has all the seeds she needs for this upcoming season, which we garden fairies are determined will be “the best season yet.”

Sweetpea Morningglory was especially pleased that Carol has five packets of sweet pea seeds, and one of them is a shorter variety for containers. We heard her tell people on a YouTube video that she plans to start those seeds indoors early. She’ll sow the other sweet pea seeds directly in the garden in mid to late March. (Seedy and Soddy will make sure of it!)
In other news, we are pleased to report that Carol is heavy into the microgreens this winter. We have wanted her to grow them for the longest time, and finally she is growing them, and she can’t seem to stop.
Oh, well, they are good eats, as we garden fairies like to say, and it is good for Carol to have a hobby, like growing microgreens, to keep her from getting bored and looking around for signs of us.
Well, that’s all we garden fairies have today. Order your seeds early because spring is coming! (And because everyone is ordering seeds so you don’t want to be left out. But don’t panic buy them. Order what you need. Share what you don’t use. Etc.)

I’m glad to hear that your garden fairies are keeping you in task to order your seeds! This crazy pandemic has made gardening more popular, and you don’t want to lose out to newbie gardeners. I’m glad they’re joining the party, but those of us who are more seasoned gardeners should get priority. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it! (Yes, I have my seeds already)
